I agree with last comment – surely website is important and no write-up in Welsh Country either Kath
are you slipping up?
if they’ve got signs out for this one it’s not all your time that’s been wasted —————-

Sorry Jazz – although it’s another festival quite near to me I will not be attending – too busy that weekend.
As for no report in Welsh Country, you’re quite right but you’ll also note no advert from them either. They don’t work with us with advertitisng so not fair for me to give them editorial
we work with those that work with us.

Well, the list of producers was loaded today, and I think I know why it was delayed. 4 people selling coffee, two hog roasts, etc… So none of these producers will do very well as their potential income will be split.
The festival are happy because they will have the stall fees, ( and the gate fee, and the grant) but they may not be so happy next year when we have all gone bust! Competition for custom and choice for the visitor only goes so far…

Cannot believe your comment that you only give publicity to events which advertise in your magazine. Astonishing admission. How can your magazine claim to be representative of the food industry in Wales if that’s your attitude.

Why cannot you believe that Welsh Country magazine supports events that support us? That’s our company policy and I’m puzzled why you say that’s an astonishing admission. I’m confused about that and not sure what you think is wrong with my attitude either.
Where does Welsh Country magazine claim to represent the food industry of Wales?
What Welsh Country does is work with the food producers that are working with us through our Best Of Welsh & Borders listing. We keep them informed by email of any food related matters that we get sent if relevant. That includes the list of Wag supported food festivals which took us a very long time to get from Wag. We also send to them by email any other festivals that might be of interest. I see our role as helping our food producers as well as any events that our working with us. Welsh Country isn’t funded by Welsh Books Council and we are not paid by Wag to promote Welsh food, which is a very important part of Welsh Country. Welsh Country is though a business, with a VAT number, not a charity number. If we gave free editorial to every food event, there would be no need for any event to advertise with us, would there? If we don’t get advertising, then we don’t publish.
I feel we’re very supportive of this industry, but sorry you don’t agree with what we are doing for food. I’m pleased though that you found welshfoodbites, which is another way we help our producers.
You’ll also note that lots of events that haven’t advertised with Welsh Country still got coverage on welshfoodbites including Pembrokeshire Fish Week, Lampeter and Llandysul festivals amongst others.

who is xhai hunter? It doesn’t sound like someone who works in the real world – guess someone with a cushy job who gets paid each month with no worries about their cheque going through.
these guys worked very hard for us best of Welsh producers and do lots behind the scenes to get things improved for us, including getting a meeting with Elin Jones when she was rural minister.
I’d rather pay these guys 1000% more than I do than pay any civil servant, politician. This lot are running a business in a tough world and we see them out a lot on the food circuit and they are very well thought of out there for the job they do for us.
I’d like to know what you do for a living, if you earn one that is. But u are clueless about our food industry and how it works and the massive problems we are facing.
I thought you were very rude, but ignorance can be bliss I believe.

whoever xhai hunter is he/she can’t be in the food business – unless a total fool.
I understand what welsh country magazine are doing. They have to do to keep trading without any grant support. They are running a business, employing staff and all the rest that that involves. Give free editorial to events that don’t support them? Haven’t you heard the saying, there’s no free lunch? They’ve always said support us and we’ll support you in any way we can. I’d be surprised if any player in the welsh food sector doesn’t know and realise what a great job this team are doing for us. They are the voice of welsh food not the welsh government. They put up this website at their cost and it has been a wonderful way of reading and putting up your views and thoughts about what is going on in wales.
If I’d have been these guys, I wouldn’t have allowed your comment to stay on the site. It’s hardly constructive. I bet you have never worked for yourself, but have your salary dropped safely into the bank each month, take all your holidays and have sick leave, whilst you calculate your pension pot. Well it’s not like that in the real world and certainly not in welsh food.
Thank goodness you are a lone voice

It makes sense to ignore xhai hunter
That person has no idea how a business runs and what welshcountry has done for our food industry. They’ve even got welshfoodbites for us – pity you weren’t charged a fee to leave your petty post and hadn’t the guts to say who you really are.
Explain why this team should promote events if they are not advertising? Then explain how they keep trading without getting advertising? I think you’re quite silly and childish.
There are lots of events mentioned on this site that never advertise apart from their local rags, but they’ve got cverage on here haven’t they? This site keeps us up uptodate with what’s happening at events that we might not have been too ourselves and I think it is fantastic.
