Llyn Land & Seafood Festival, Pwllheli

14 May

I was told this morning by a Best Of Welsh & Borders food producer, that the Llyn festival, due to be held in Pwllheli over the weekend of the 25th – 26th May will not now be going ahead.

I’ve contacted wag who confirmed very quickly that this is the case. I’ve not been given details as to why, but this is very disappointing for the area which does not have that many food festivals over the year.

    This is bad news.
Is this the start of festivals folding because wag has reduced their funding?
I haven’t done this festival for some years because I felt it had lost it’s way. There wasn’t much good food lots of local non-food stands there and very lttle fish.
There are not that many festivals in the north so you can only hope government has a re-think into how important festivals are for the ecomony and tourism seems to me they’ve got it wrong again.
Maybe some local producers that know what they are doing will run it again next year with a clear focus on Welsh fish and Welsh food.

Let’s get sorted for next year and run this as a good food festival with lots of fish, lots of local food
we can’t afford to lose a festival in the north we don’t have that many but this needs the kiss of life

I didn’t book for this festival this year because I was disappointed last year about how few local food producers there were (… too many big trade type stands selling cheap, mass produced)
We really do need more local food festivals and hope that the new venue next year (… if it runs?) will lead to a re-think about who can trade there – please keep it local

I am local producer and I too didn’t book for this year for reasons already stated by others.
Please let’s not let this one die it’s so needed but must be for locals with lots of seafood
