Darren Millar Tells Plaid Cymru to Get on With the Day Job
Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Darren Millar MS, will today tell the Plaid Cymru First Minister Rhun ap Iorwerth, to get on with the day job and stop misleading voters over the prospect of Welsh independence.
Addressing the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham before a speech from Kemi Badenoch, Darren Millar will tell delegates Wales needs a government focussed on fixing public services.
Darren Millar will declare that “Britain needs Badenoch” in a speech in the Union session of the conference on Sunday afternoon.
In the speech, he will defend the union between the four countries of the United Kingdom and declare that “the Welsh Conservatives will never allow that to happen.”
As part of his speech, Darren Millar MS, Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, will say:
Of course, now we have a new Plaid Cymru Welsh Government.
Led by Rhun ap Iorwerth, a Nationalist First Minister.
He told voters in May that the Senedd election was not about independence.
Well, either he didn’t get his own memo…
…or he deliberately chose to deceive people.
Because just like the Pied Piper of Hamelin…
…the Plaid Piper of Anglesey…
…has tried to hoodwink people.
He promised to focus on fixing things…
…but his real plan,
…a plan to draw a slate curtain between Wales and the rest of the UK…
…will cause more harm than good for our children and future generations.
You know, prior to voting day, he promised action on the NHS…
…better schools and a stronger economy.
Yet since Plaid came into office…
…waiting lists are up…
…school standards are down…
…and Welsh businesses continue to struggle.
And instead of rolling up his sleeves and getting on with the job he ought to be doing…
…the First Minister’s very first act after the Welsh Parliament’s summer recess…
…was to cosy up to the SNP…
…and Sinn Fein…
…to issue bold predictions about the future…
…like Mystic Meg gazing into a crystal ball…
…declaring that Westminster was coming to an end…
…and that Andy Burnham would be Britain’s last Prime Minister.
He then signed a pact to promote the break-up of our United Kingdom.
The whole jamboree was seized upon by Vladimir Putin’s Foreign Minister…
…Sergei Lavrov…
…who gleefully spoke up on Russian TV about the prospect of independence referendums across the UK.
So my message to Rhun ap Iorweth today is this…
Get on with the day job!
Wales needs a government focused on fixing our public services.
Not one that’s focused on ripping the United Kingdom apart!
Conference, we Welsh Conservatives will never allow that to happen!
Because, the United Kingdom is more than a political arrangement.
We are a shared family of nations.
For centuries, the people of Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland…
…have lived together…
…worked together…
…and traded together.
We built industries together.
Fought tyranny together.
And created wealth…
…improved living standards…
…and built communities together.
Together, we abolished the slave trade and liberated Europe.
And our British inventions, ideas and ideals, helped to shape the modern world.
Of course, there are those on the left who say we should apologise…
…or be embarrassed about our history.
But I say that it is a legacy and a heritage that we should be proud of…
…and use to inspire the next generation!
Well I wonder how this speech will go down at the Conservative Party Conference and I am hoping that Plaid Cymru are not only listening, but understanding that Plaid have their priorities misplaced and they should stick to what they promised Welsh people before some of the people elected Plaid to power………..

Politicians make promises before they are elected
once elected they seem to do a great deal of chatting but change nothing
how Plaid can NOW say Wales can look after itself is simply a fairy tale when most of us think Wales is broken
