Just 3% of Welsh Farmers Trust the Welsh Government

The Country Land and Business Association in Wales have commissioned a poll and they have found out that just 3% of Welsh farmers trust the Welsh Government, Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs, Samuel Kurtz MS, said:

“This survey result is a damning indictment, yet isn’t all too surprising, given how the Welsh Government has treated farmers over the last few years. The Welsh Government gave up being a government for all of Wales long ago. Their urban-focused policies, coupled with continuous attacks on rural Wales, have led to trust in this Welsh Government being at rock bottom. Farming is in desperate need of a friend, and it’s only the Welsh Conservatives who have the policies to restore trust and be that friend to farming.”

Well in you are farming this will not be news to you but important that the Welsh people understand the additional trauma you continue to face. As if your job is not tough enough you have a Government more concerned with making farmers plant more trees. This is not even remotely funny. Farmers have as their priority to grow more food for us here in Wales but grow more trees is seemingly the Welsh Government’s mantra. If are farms are having their productive land taken away then their food production will be lowered. When that happens Wales has to import more food and how do the Welsh Government register that carbon footprint.

I am not making myself to be in any way be a farming expert, but I do have common sense, which obviously to the Welsh Government appears to be lacking. I don’t believe this Welsh Government farming plan makes any sense whatsoever.

When will Wag actually talk to farmers and understand the problems they are facing on a daily basis?
